Character discussion.
Linda is the protagonist in the play. I would say she was obsessed with the idea of being the most ideal mother but she was also a workaholic. The reasons behind this might be the fact that she did not have a mother growing up herself.
Luke is someone at True Beauty, he works with Linda and Amy. He has strong religious beliefs and he talks about how he wants to travel the world. He also seems quite full of himself in the fact that he made a bet with Amy that he would be able to Sleep with Linda. When he did sleep with Linda he told Amy and I think that even though he didn't want her to tell anyone he secretly knew that she would.
Neil is a teacher, Linda's husband and father of Bridget and Alice. Neil wants to be the rock star and thinks that having the affair with Stevie makes him feel like one. However once he gets caught he is resentful and regrets the affair. Sits on his tablet in most scenes.
Stevie is in the same band as Neil and she is the person who Neil has an affair with. She regrets the affair as her own dad had an affair and she feels sorry for Linda for what her and Neil have both done.
Bridget is 15 years old and is the daughter of Neil and Linda. She wants to become an actress and wants to try and break the regime by playing Hamlet instead of Ophelia like her parents want her to. She seems independent and almost more grown up then her age is. Maybe this is because of her mums professional job and her dads lack of attention to her.
Alice is a 23 year old with depression due to her past 'mistakes' , as called by her mum, due to nude photos she sent to her boyfriend of the time who sent them to other people. This leads her to always wear a sloth onsie because it helps her feel invisible.- even though the onsie would draw more attention I think its that fact that they are more drawn to what she's wearing rather then what she looks like or her body.
Amy is someone who went to the same school as Alice and also sent hatful messages to Alice. One of which led her to move schools. She doesn't like Linda and maybe this is because she wants everything Linda has and is jealous. However we also get the impression that Amy is Linda when she is young. So this meaning that Amy will turn out like Linda when she gets older.
